I was looking for a nice link to illustrate what a foursquare home looks like as part of a forthcoming post on my favorite holiday gift, and surprisingly the best link I found wasn't on an architecture site or ThisOldHouse.com, but a gallery produced by CNNMoney. As foursquares are relatively unknown, I'd be really curious to see what story that was gallery originally produced for.
edited to add: D'oh, I am a doofus. I just now noticed the "Back to story" link which takes you to this CNNMoney.com piece on the American foursquare. One feature of the foursquare, which they hint at but don't explicitly state, is that there are usually no hallways (save for the foyer and a very small "perch" at the top of the stairs) -- the design plan is often truly just four squares, connected by large doorways, especially on the first floor. This is a great use of space, but it can make finding a public place to hang artwork or pictures difficult.
Also, if I can brag a bit, I'm tickled that they use the $149k WV house to illustrate the "dollar going a long way" -- my house was a third that much, and IMHO is much lovelier than the WV house. I love my city.
